In the last three decades more than 1,700 students and more than 500 adults have been sent to the mission field as representatives of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Stillwater community. In these many years, Trinity missionaries have helped renovate an orphanage and Bible college, and constructed roofs on homes, classrooms, and churches. They have helped build a senior healthcare and living center and provided families with gifts of food, clothing, toys, school supplies, and most importantly, God’s love. In 2022, the group shifted their focus to Puerto Rico. The group painted, built, cleaned up, taught Vacation Bible School to local children, and demonstrated God’s love repeatedly.
From June 22-29, 2024, we will return to central Puerto Rico once again working with a host congregation near Jayuya. The island is still recovering from Hurricanes Maria in September, 2017 as well as Fiona in September, 2022. The need is great!
Missionaries will work at multiple sites each day, cleaning up, painting, and doing light construction. Each evening will conclude with large-group time as missionaries break into small groups to discuss devotional materials. The group will also be organizing a Vacation Bible School for a partner congregation and will take some time at the end of the trip to see some of beautiful, historic San Juan. We will also be partnering with our host congregation with supplies and needs for their upcoming mission trips to Central America.
The actual cost of the trip is $1,950. Every missionary contributes $600. Family, friends, and members of Trinity can also become a part of this mission trip with their generous sponsorships of our missionaries. It is generous sponsorship as well as other group fundraising opportunities that help create this opportunity. Sponsorship dollars pay for building materials, lodging, meals, travel, and much more. The tradition of the Trinity High School Missions is important to many people and has impacted countless others thanks to sponsors and supporters!
