My Ascension Movie Viewing & Discussion
Wednesday, Feb. 9 from 6-7:30 pm | Worship Center
Please note 6 p.m. start time. Trinity CYF is sponsoring a movie screening and discussion event for parents, grandparents and kids. We will watch a portion of the movie and be guided in discussion by mental health experts.

My Ascension chronicles the suicide attempt of 16-year-old Emma Benoit, and her inspiring journey. My Ascension is a documentary film and movement to spread hope and fight suicide.  The film also highlights the stories of two remarkable young people who tragically did not survive their attempts, and we learn first-hand from their families, friends, school officials and suicide prevention experts about the devastating effects of suicide and what can be done to prevent it.

Counselors and other professionals from our local Youth Service Bureau, NAMI and Canvas Health will be on hand to facilitate discussion and answer questions.

Please watch the video above. In association with Youth Service Bureau, Trinity Lutheran Church hosted a session for parents and kids called “Technology and Student Well-Being” in the Worship Center at Trinity from 6:30–7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. This presentation explores the demands of technology in our everyday lives, especially in the lives of kids. A great investment of 60 minutes for all parents, kids, caregivers, church staff, and volunteer leaders. Presentation includes:

  • Watch a short documentary called “(dis)Connected”
  • Explore the benefits and concerns around screens
  • Look at the connection between brain development and devices
  • Share guidelines and tips for parents and kids’ well-being
  • Take time for questions and answers with the Youth Service Bureau representative
