CHILDREN & FAMILY FAITH FORMATION

Pre-K (age 4) – Grade 5
We’re moving! Your CYF staff has been busy this summer listening and crafting Faith Formation opportunities that fit your real life. A powerful learning that came from our listening sessions is that Wednesdays seem to work better for families to attend Faith Formation and help take added stress off weekends. Sundays will be reserved as sacred days for you. Worship with us in person, worship online, savor Sabbath as a family in the ways that serve your family best.
Are Wednesdays tricky for your family? Rest assured, one of the most impactful ways to encourage a faith that sticks for your child(ren) – even more impactful than registered children’s programming – is to worship together as a family. Worship with us this year at either 9 a.m. (new time!) or 11 a.m. on Sundays starting Sept. 17. Let your child(ren) hear the Gospel preached, see community gathered, taste God’s love for them through Communion, feel the touch of prayer on their hearts through hands folded, and smell the presence of God’s love for us through candles lit. Participate in worship as an usher, greeter, or Communion server! Then, between services, enjoy fellowship! The Gym will be open for play and supervised by middle/high school volunteers. Parents can stay and enjoy coffee while their children play or attend Sunday Faith Forum from 10-11 a.m. in the Garden Room.

In addition to Sundays being reserved as sacred family days, we are excited to launch a new Faith Formation time, called Faith Lab, which takes place on Wednesday evenings from 5:15-5:55 p.m., right after Children’s Choir and before Dinner Church for children ages 4 through Grade 5 to gather and encounter God through community. Each week explores a particular biblical story with the help of Illustrated Ministry resources and provides opportunities to focus on hearing and reflecting on the story with open-ended questions, creating meaningful art, sharing in an interactive activity based on the story, and providing an opportunity to share God’s love. We’ll even sneak some music in with Mr. Clark when we can!
