Can changing your story change your life? More and more people entering middle age or approaching the end of life are trying to make sense of the disparity between what they thought their lives were going to be and what they actually are. In Re-Creating a Life: Learning How to Tell Our Most Life-Giving Story, author Dr. Diane Millis offers a set of questions and strategies for telling new stories about our lives that more closely reflect who we are and our possibilities. Books available at the event for $10.
Millis shows us how we can discover a more promising story of our lives through reflection, writing, and conversation with others. She writes, “It’s not what we’ve experienced that defines us, but the stories we tell about our experiences.” In her presentation, Diane will help us develop our capacity to author a story to which we are drawn and learn how to help others do the same.
Diane M. Millis, PhD, loves to help people explore their own stories as a way to discover meaning, purpose, and joy in their lives. She is an author, spiritual director, retreat facilitator, and educator. Diane has taught at the University of Minnesota, the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University, Saint Catherine University and United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.
