One of my favorite and most catchy tunes since coming to Trinity is a Peter Mayer song called Everybody In.

Sing it in your head if you know it:

“Everybody in
Everybody in
Everybody in to the circle (circle)”

And it repeats. A lot.

It’s a pretty clear message. A call to inclusive community. Forming belonging. Experiencing the beautiful diversity of God’s dream in the Body of Christ.

All In Faith Formation and Congregational Book Study
Last year, we had a lot of fun reading Love Without Limits by Dr. Jacqueline Bussie and hosting a conversation with her about her faith journey.

This fall, we are going to continue hosting a few different kinds of events like Love Without Limits, and calling them All In Events. These faith forming experiences are geared toward the larger audience of Everybody In. Hopefully, it’s something you can bring the whole family to. Hopefully, it’s something you can invite a neighbor or a friend to.

One of the All In experiences is a congregational book study, inviting folks at Trinity to read a memoir by local author and ELCA pastor Emmy Kegler called One Coin Found. We will have copies here at Trinity and at Valley Bookseller.

This book was featured on Minnesota Public Radio’s Women of Faith Series and is “a personal, thoughtful, and grace-filled look at what it means to wrestle with one’s faith when that same faith is often an instrument to wound and exclude.”

Pastor Kegler shares her own experience growing up in the church and navigating her identity in the LGBTQ community, as well as feeling called to ministry while serving folks on the margins who have been excluded by the church.

We will also be hosting an All In Presentation and Q&A with Pastor Kegler on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 6-7:30 p.m. Please read along, join a book group, and mark your calendars.

Big ELCA Anniversaries this year
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the ordination of women in the ELCA, the 40th anniversary of the first clergy woman of color, and the 10th anniversary of publicly affirming rostered LGBTQ leaders in the church.

May we continue to find ways to lift up these amazing leaders, learn from their stories, and invite everybody in to God’s dream for the body of Christ.

Are you All In?

Pastor Peter
