When they left camp the students had lots of great vibes, goodbyes and hugs with the local people. It was great to see how close the missionaries got with the local families. They explored the Mayan Ruins and then traveled to the hotel in Cancun. A pizza dinner was their meal and afterward they were energized by a student faith talk and worship under an outdoor canopy. Everyone is looking forward to seeing their family, but sad to leave Mexico. The flights were leaving on-time at 6 a.m. this morning.

Tues., March 16, 2010

The whole group worked on a church. They were working alongside local neighborhood people and were able to finish it all in one morning. Then the missionaries went back to camp for an afternoon of sponsor letter writing and relaxing. In the evening they put on a talent show with music and speakers. Everyone has enjoyed the worship time and the great music. On Wednesday they will travel to Cancun and visit Mayan Ruins. The whole group is doing well and having a great time.

Mon., March 15, 2010

Completed five houses today. The teams are doing an excellent job of working together. Each time they finish a house the missionaries bless the house. One student says a prayer in English and another student translates it into Spanish. The families have really appreciated their words and their hard work. In the afternoon, they played some games of volleyball and wrote more sponsorship letters. Tonight we had a wonderful fish dinner. Dan & Gloria Davis and Arlyce Melheim have been making delicious meals. On Tuesday we will have a full day working on a church. This will be their last working day and the students find it hard to believe the week is almost over. They have been having such a great experience.

Sun., March 14, 2010

The group hosted a Vacation Bible School for 140 local children, plus 30 parents today! Missionaries created a Noah's Ark theme with arts and crafts. The local children had lots of fun and didn't want to leave church because they were having so much fun. The kids are having many opportunities to use their Spanish. They had a relaxing afternoon at the beach and then made a trip to Progresso for dinner and some shopping. Small groups are doing well together and everyone is enjoying the trip. Weather has been somewhat cool and breezy, but sunny.

Sat., March 13, 2010

The missionaries have completed 10 projects so far. The weather has been nice, a bit cooler tonight. Sunday School and Progresso tomorrow. Great trip so far.

Fri., March 12, 2010

The students had a wonderful work day and completed six roofs. They had some fun time at the beach and wrote sponsorship letters. There was a little cloud cover today, so that helped us stay cooler.

Thurs., March 11, 2010

The missionaries have arrived in Mexico and made it to camp around 6 p.m. last night. A delicious dinner of chicken fajitas, rice, chips and guacamole was served.
